Khalish is a collection of images made over time, shaped by looking, memory and an instinctive response to the world around us.
The photographs began with an outward gaze. Streets, landscapes, people, animals, architecture and everyday encounters became moments worth holding on to. A figure walking through a city, a boat on still water, an empty road, a weathered structure or an object left behind could hold a feeling that stayed long after the moment had passed. Brought together over the years, these images form a personal way of seeing India through fragments of everyday life.
Over time, the meaning of these images has changed. What began as an observation of the world has become a more inward experience of looking. The photographs now carry thoughts of time, memory, absence and the things that remain with us. The images have acquired a personal resonance that was not necessarily present when they were first made.
Khalish describes that lingering feeling. An ache, a memory, a longing, something that remains quietly within us. The collection leaves space for these feelings to emerge through the photographs and for each viewer to find their own connection within them.
